Registered Building Surveyor, Unrestricted
BJ holds registration BDC2213, class Building Surveyor Unrestricted, on the NSW Building Certifiers Register. You can check it here.
Unrestricted is the top class a building surveyor can hold in New South Wales, and it is the class that is not capped by building type or size. Restricted classes are, which is how projects occasionally reach a point where the scope has outgrown the certifier and a new one has to be appointed partway through.
He has held that registration since May 2025, and has been accredited in New South Wales continuously since 2014.

From the tools to the code
BJ came to certification from the trade, not from a desk. He is a licensed carpenter with over 17 years of construction experience behind the regulatory work, and it shows in how the advice lands: what a builder can actually do on site, not just what a clause requires.
Since 2013 the focus has been building regulation specifically, on both sides of the counter.
Career
Director and Accredited Certifier, Falcon Building Consultants, August 2025 to present.
Senior Compliance Officer, Design and Building Practitioners Audits, Building Commission NSW (Department of Customer Service), February 2022 to July 2023. Auditing compliance on the buildings the DBP scheme was written for, from the regulator's side.
Before and between those roles, certification work in private practice at MBC Group and in local government at Clarence Valley Council.
